Reese Witherspoon Reportedly Scaling Back Involvement in ‘The Morning Show’

Reese Witherspoon, star and executive producer of Apple TV+’s “The Morning Show,” is reportedly considering reducing her involvement in the series as it heads into its fifth season. The show, which recently premiered its fourth season, has already been renewed for a fifth, but sources suggest Witherspoon’s commitment may be waning.

According to an insider speaking to the National Enquirer, Witherspoon, 49, intends to “dial things back moving forward.” While she will continue to serve as an executive producer through her company, Hello Sunshine, her on-screen presence may be significantly reduced. The source stated that it remains “very unclear right now if she’s going to continue her on-camera role full time.”

The insider further suggested that Witherspoon’s enthusiasm for “The Morning Show” doesn’t match that of her co-star and fellow executive producer, Jennifer Aniston, 56. Aniston, known for her dedication to television and producing, reportedly dedicates a significant portion of her year to the show. “It has really become Jen’s show, and Reese is proud of what Jen has accomplished, but it’s a lot harder for Reese to give this show eight months of the year the way Jen is able to,” the source claimed.

Both Aniston and Witherspoon reportedly earn approximately $20 million per season. However, the insider emphasized that Witherspoon’s decision is not financially motivated. Instead, she is said to be prioritizing her film career and a potential return to “Big Little Lies.” “And most folks predict she’ll walk away from it, sooner rather than later,” the source added.

Earlier reports from the National Enquirer indicate Aniston is experiencing “major anxiety” regarding Witherspoon’s potential departure, as she values their working relationship. The insider previously stated, “Reese loves working with Jen, but she loves to do lots of different things.” No official statement has been released by either Witherspoon or Apple TV+ regarding her future involvement in “The Morning Show.”
