‘Insidious 6’ Announces Director, Cast, and Release Date; Lin Shaye Returns to Franchise

The sixth installment in the “Insidious” horror franchise, tentatively titled “Insidious 6,” is slated for theatrical release on August 21, 2026. The film, a collaboration between Blumhouse Productions, Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems, and Stage 6 Films, will see the return of Lin Shaye to the series. Amelia Eve will also star in a leading role. Jacob Chase is directing the film from a script he co-wrote with David Leslie Johnson.

Production for “Insidious 6” is scheduled to commence next week in Australia. Details surrounding the plot are currently being kept under wraps, consistent with Blumhouse’s typical approach to their horror film releases. Jason Blum, Oren Peli, James Wan, and Leigh Whannell are producing the film, with Ryan Turek, Steven Schneider, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and David Leslie Johnson serving as executive producers.

The “Insidious” franchise has garnered significant success, with “Insidious: The Red Door” (2023) becoming the highest-grossing film in the series, earning approximately $190 million worldwide. Since its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2010, the franchise has grossed over $740 million globally, establishing itself as a prominent horror film series. The original film’s premiere will be commemorated at this year’s TIFF, marking its 15th anniversary.

Amelia Eve is known for her role in “The Haunting of Bly Manor” on Netflix and can currently be seen in “Leopard Skin” on Peacock. She previously starred in “The Blind”, also on Netflix. Lin Shaye, recognized for her roles in Farrelly Brothers comedies such as “Dumb and Dumber,” transitioned to horror and has become synonymous with the “Insidious” franchise. She has also starred in independent films and television series, earning a Daytime Emmy for “Eastsiders.”

Director Jacob Chase is known for writing and directing “Come Play” for Amblin and Focus Features, based on his short film “Larry.” He also directed and produced “The Girl in the Woods” for Peacock. His upcoming project is “Bad Boy” for C2. Chase’s short film “Mr. Blur” won the International Jury Award for Best Director at Fantasia 2023. He is currently developing future projects at Blumhouse and Atomic Monster.
